Nogier Reflex
Nogier Frequencies and Auricular Medicine
The ear is not just an organ of hearing. In auricular medicine, it is a complete map of the human body — a microsystem through which every organ, joint, and neurological system can be accessed, assessed, and treated.
At the centre of this approach are the Nogier frequencies — seven specific therapeutic frequencies identified by Dr. Paul Nogier, a French physician and neurologist who pioneered modern auricular medicine in the 1950s and 1960s. These frequencies remain the foundation of clinical auricular work worldwide.
Who Was Dr. Paul Nogier?
Dr. Paul Nogier (1908–1996) was a French physician based in Lyon who made one of the most significant discoveries in modern complementary medicine. He observed that patients with sciatic pain experienced relief after a specific point on the ear was treated. Investigating further, he mapped the entire body’s reflex zones onto the ear — producing the auricular homunculus, a model now used by practitioners globally.
His later work identified that different tissues in the body respond to different electromagnetic frequencies. This led to the development of seven distinct therapeutic frequencies — each corresponding to a specific type of tissue and a specific healing process.
His discoveries were adopted by the World Health Organization, taught at medical schools across Europe and Asia, and continue to be researched and applied in clinical settings today.
The Seven Nogier Frequencies
Each frequency targets a specific biological layer:
Frequency A — 2.28 Hz
Skin, connective tissue, and ectodermal structures. Used in wound healing and skin conditions.
Frequency B — 4.56 Hz
Nutritive tissue, muscles, and mesodermal structures. Relevant for muscular pain and metabolic conditions.
Frequency C — 9.12 Hz
Endodermal tissue and organ function. Used in digestive, respiratory, and internal organ conditions.
Frequency D — 18.24 Hz
Cerebral cortex and brain tissue. Applied in neurological conditions, cognitive function, and mental clarity.
Frequency E — 36.48 Hz
Subcortical structures and deeper neurological regulation. Used in chronic pain and emotional regulation.
Frequency F — 72.96 Hz
Peripheral nervous system and nerve tissue. Applied in neuropathic conditions and sensory disorders.
Frequency G — 145.92 Hz
Bone, cartilage, and skeletal structures. Used in degenerative joint conditions and structural repair.
In clinical practice, the correct frequency is identified through the Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS) — a real-time diagnostic method that reads the autonomic nervous system’s response to determine exactly which frequency and point is relevant for each individual patient.
How Nogier Frequencies Are Applied in Treatment
Nogier frequencies are applied in two primary ways:
1. Laser therapy
Low-level laser devices capable of delivering modulated frequencies allow the practitioner to apply specific Nogier frequencies directly to auricular points and body points. The laser penetrates tissue without heat, and the modulated frequency provides the biological signal required to initiate tissue-specific healing responses.
2. Electrical stimulation
Micro-current devices can deliver the same frequencies to auricular points. This method is less precise but useful in specific clinical contexts.
In this clinic, Nogier frequencies are delivered exclusively via RJ Laser photobiomodulation devices — German-made instruments that allow precise frequency selection and clinical application. These are the same devices used in laser acupuncture and auricular medicine training across Europe.
The Role of the VAS in Nogier Frequency Selection
One of the most important aspects of Nogier’s work was the development of the Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS) — a subtle, measurable change in the radial pulse that occurs when the autonomic nervous system responds to a stimulus.
The VAS allows the practitioner to test in real time:
- Which auricular points are active
- Which Nogier frequency the tissue requires
- Whether a treatment is producing the intended biological response
This transforms treatment from a fixed protocol into a precise, individualised dialogue with the patient’s nervous system. No two treatments are identical — because no two patients are.
With over 27 years of clinical experience in auricular medicine, laser acupuncture, and VAS diagnostics, Oren Ziv applies Nogier frequencies as part of an integrated treatment approach — combining auricular medicine with Japanese acupuncture, Master Tung’s points, and photobiomodulation where clinically indicated.
Conditions Where Nogier Frequencies Are Clinically Relevant
Nogier frequencies are not a standalone treatment for named diseases. They are a tool for stimulating specific tissue types to support the body’s own healing mechanisms. Clinical application is relevant in:
- Chronic musculoskeletal pain — joint degeneration, tendinopathies, disc conditions
- Neurological and neuropathic conditions — nerve damage, post-surgical nerve recovery, sensory disturbances
- Hormonal and endocrine imbalances — thyroid conditions, adrenal fatigue, cycle irregularities
- Cognitive and neurological conditions — concentration difficulties, post-concussion recovery, sleep disorders
- Emotional regulation — chronic stress, anxiety, post-traumatic presentations
- Skin and connective tissue conditions — delayed wound healing, scar tissue, inflammatory skin conditions
What to Expect in a Session
Your first session begins with a clinical conversation — a thorough assessment of your condition, history, and what you have already tried. This is followed by a VAS diagnostic assessment, through which the active auricular points and relevant Nogier frequencies are identified.
Treatment is then applied using laser photobiomodulation on the identified points. Sessions are calm, completely non-invasive, and typically last 45 to 60 minutes.
You will leave with a clear understanding of what was found and why specific frequencies and points were chosen.

Book a Consultation
If you are dealing with a condition that has not responded fully to other treatments — or if you are looking for a diagnostic approach that goes beyond symptom management — a first consultation will give you a clear picture of what is actually driving your condition and whether auricular medicine is the right path forward.
