Master Tung’s Acupuncture : A Legacy of Healing
The Greatest Acupuncturist of Our Time
Master Tung, also known by his Chinese name Dong, is widely regarded as the greatest acupuncturist of the modern era. His extraordinary results using only a few needles have set him apart in the field of acupuncture. Born in 1916 in Shan Dong Province, China, Master Tong hailed from a family of middle-class acupuncturists. At the young age of 18, he opened his first acupuncture clinic, offering treatments to patients who could not afford to pay.

A Journey Through Turbulent Times
When communism took hold in China, Master Tung moved to Taiwan with Chiang Kai-shek’s army. Over the next 40 years, he treated an astounding 400,000 patients, including 100,000 military personnel and government employees. Master Tong’s compassionate approach meant that he often provided free care to those in need, embodying the spirit of a true healer.

Recognized for His Good Deeds
Between 1971 and 1975, Master Tung was honored five times with the title of “Good People Doing Good Deeds,” a testament to his unwavering dedication to helping others. His reputation as a benevolent and skilled acupuncturist spread far and wide, cementing his legacy in the annals of acupuncture history.

The Secret Points of Master Tung
A unique aspect of Master Tong’s practice was his use of extra acupuncture points, a family secret passed down through generations. These points were considered a family treasure, integral to their tradition of healing. However, Master Tong made the unprecedented decision to break with tradition and reveal these secrets. Some speculate this was due to the absence of an heir to continue the family practice.

Teaching the Next Generation
Determined to share his knowledge, Master Tung began teaching students outside his family. He instructed 73 students, passing on his invaluable techniques and wisdom free of charge. This act of generosity ensured that his methods would continue to benefit future generations, spreading the art of healing far beyond his original reach.

Master Tung’s story is one of remarkable skill, compassion, and dedication. His innovative use of acupuncture points and his commitment to treating those in need have left an indelible mark on the field. As we continue to explore and apply his teachings, we honor the legacy of a true master and pioneer in acupuncture.
